Giving Back

Crowder and its employees live our mission statement and are actively involved in giving back to the communities where we live and work.

UNC Kidney Center’s Kidney Kare 5K
Crowder participates in this “Kids Kare” event to promote awareness about kidney disease and the importance of kidney transplantation. Proceeds from this event will support the Kidney Education Outreach Program (a statewide awareness and kidney screening program), the Patient Emergent Need Fund and the Carolina Kidney Kids for Pediatric Nephrology.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
The Charlotte Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation was founded in 1973 by local parents of children with diabetes who were convinced that through research, a cure could be found. Their mission is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. This chapter conducts various fundraising activities throughout the year, including the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes, which Crowder participates in every year.

The Learning Collaborative
The Learning Collaborative (TLC) is a comprehensive pre-school program serving families of local communities. TLC prepares children to be successful in school and in life by providing a comprehensive pre-school program that includes training parents to be teachers and advocates for their children. TLC provides transportation, hot meals, speech language and literacy development, and intensive family support. Crowder employees have enjoyed giving toys and other goodies at Christmas for many years to these children during an annual visit that includes a special story time with Santa and Mrs. Claus!

Food Drive for Western Wake Crisis Ministry
The Western Wake Crisis Ministry, located in downtown Apex, NC, is a nonprofit organization that distributes approximately 300 bags of groceries to local needy families each month. Crowder participates in a food drive to contribute to this fund over the summer when the shelves are often empty.

Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation
The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community. The program is a national effort administered locally; in whatever community the toys are collected is the community in which they will be distributed. Crowder contributes new toys to the Toys for Tots Foundation every Christmas to bring a smile to a child who may be less fortunate.

Relay for Life
Relay for Life is an event that is designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs for the American Cancer Society. During the May event, teams of people take turns walking or running laps and one individual from each team is always on the track. Crowder is honored to be a participant in this event each year.

American Heart Association
Crowder participates in the American Heart Association’s (AHA) annual Heart Walk - the AHA’s premiere fundraising event. Money raised from this event funds cardiovascular research and education to help fight heart disease and stroke, the No.1 and No.3 killers in the nation. The walk is designed to promote physical activity and heart-healthy living. The AHA is the largest voluntary health organization working to prevent, treat and defeat heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases.
